Hyundai Motor America is beating the competition in both fuel economy and price. Hyundai recently announced that its cars sold year-to-date had an average of 35.7 mpg, higher than any other manufacturer this year, and also better than the federal corporate average mandated to take effect in 2016. Hyundai reported that 40% of its sales came from vehicles which get more than 40 mpg on the highway. Of particular note is the 2012 Hyundai Accent, which starts at $14,195 and can get 40 mpg. John Krafcik, CEO of Hyundai Motor America, said, “The best way to reduce America’s fuel consumption is to put more fuel-efficient vehicles in America’s driveways, right now.” Krafcik went on to explain that whereas the competition focuses on expensive new experimental technologies, Hyundai’s goal is “to mass produce the most efficient technologies, like direct-injected engines and 6-speed transmissions, and deploy them as standard equipment, not expensive options.” Be sure to look for the 2012 Hyundai Accent, Hyundai Elantra, and Hyundai Sonata at your local NH Hyundai dealer.
